Winter Academic Awards for Wellesley

Five members of Wellesley College winter sports teams have been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

For Swimming and Diving... Sophomores Emilie Mitten (Norwalk, Conn.) and Alex Stark (Moorestown, N.J.) earned all-academic nods for the first time. Mitten, a freestyler, has not declared a major.  Stark, a butterflyer, carries a double major in international relations and political science.  Junior diving standout Kate Sorenson (Bolton, Mass.), a mathematics major, also earned her first all-academic selection.  Senior freestyler and breaststroker Becky Hanna (Hong Kong), an economics major, is a three-time Academic All-Conference selection.

For Basketball...  Junior Courtney Richter (Sinking Springs, Penn.) was named to the All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year.  Richter, a three-year starter for the Blue, is pursuing a double major in art history and studio art.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2007 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
